More than 100 days in jail could not break my spirit

Hello, my name is Atalya and I’m a 23 year old activist from Jerusalem. In 2017 I refused Israeli military conscription and spent 110 days in jail. I felt it was imperative to do my part towards ending the Israeli occupation, stopping aparthied in Israeli society and fighting against the opression of the Palestinian people.

My journey and our struggle as conscientious objectors in Israel’s militaristic society was documented in the film “Objector: From an Israeli Rite of Passage to a Battle for Human Rights”. The film shows that every one of us can choose not to take part in forces of oppression. It shows that we have the power to act in a non-violent way to stop the cruelty and the violence of the occupation, while sending out a message of hope for peace and equality. Now I have the opportunity to share the film and my journey with you! You can watch “Objector” at this link (25% discount code is already applied. Valid from March 22nd to April 10th, Afterwards you can watch the film on Vimeo here.)

The Objector impact project seeks to facilitate diverse audiences’ engagement with the film’s themes of feminism, anti-militarism, solidarity and the power of youth leadership. Our mission is to bring the message to as many people as possible by film screenings and discussion events, such as the ‘Objector panel: Youth resistance to Israeli militarism’ that took place last month. You can also take part in the project by spreading the word to friends, family and colleagues in Israel that would be interested in hosting screenings and discussions. If you would like to host a screening of the movie, or know someone who would, please contact us at info@refuser.org

Thank you for your solidarity,

Atalya

PS - Thanks to continuous support and solidarity from all over the world we are able to work towards ending the Israeli occupation and apartheid. We hope you can pitch in a few dollars a month here. Such recurring donations, even $5, $10 or $15 a month, really help us to grow our movement, and make sure no refuser is left alone.
